چکیده

This paper deals with the design and realization of an echo-canceller board for a VME bus. The work has been carried out by integrating the abilities and the competences of some academic and industriai research groups within the framework of Subproject 3.1 of the ltalian National Research Council «TelecommuniCation Project». The board implements an efficient algorithm for the cancellation of acoustic echoes and is to be used in a video-conference terminaI. lt employes application specitic integrated circuits (ASIC), in order to obtaiTI a compact realization ofthe system, as required in present inter-personal terminal systems. The board consists of a DSP processor which computes the algorithm, a high-performance interface with the analog world, and a finite impulse response filter (FIR) which emulates the response of the acoustic channeI. The design and the performance of the integrated circuits for the AID and DIA conversion and the FIR filter are reported.

Improvement of In-Car Speech Recognition by Acoustic Echo Canceller with Maximum Likelihood

In this paper, as a key technology for improvement of speech recognition system in car environments, we propose an acoustic echo canceller for selecting an optimum cancellation result based on the echo estimation with maximum likelihood using transfer characteristics measured prospectively. The results of experiments conducted to speech superimposed on music show that the proposed canceller can...

Adaptation Controll Parmeters of Multipath Model of an Adaptive Acoustic Echo Canceller

An overview of acoustic echo cancellation systems is presented. First the basics of echo’s, type of echo’s , why echo canceller are required and what are the difference between echo canceller are explained then the application where they can be used is discussed.. This paper presents applications of acoustic echo control and shows most recent solutions. For some selected applications (LEM) resu...

Joint noise reduction and acoustic echo cancellation using the transfer-function generalized sidelobe canceller

Man machine interaction requires an acoustic interface for providing full duplex hands-free communication. The transfer-function generalized sidelobe canceller (TF-GSC) is an adaptive beamformer suitable for enhancing a speech signal received by an array of microphones in a noisy and reverberant environment. When an echo signal is also present in the microphone output signals, cascade schemes o...

An Echo Canceller Robust to Noise and Residual Echo

When we talk with hands-free in a car or noisy lobby, the performance of the echo canceller degrade because background noise added to echo caused by the distance from mouth to microphone is relatively long. It gives a reason for necessity of noise-robust and high convergence speed adaptive algorithm. And if acoustic echo canceller operated not perfectly, residual signal going through the echo c...

STFT-based multi-channel acoustic interference suppressor

In this paper we describe a system that suppresses the acoustic interference due to the coupling between the microphone and the loudspeakers of a hands-free multi-channel desktop audio system. The proposed system operates in the Short-Time Fourier Transform domain and uses spectral subtraction to suppress the unwanted interference, which consists of the local audio and the remote speech signal ...
